    Fascinating article, Patricia…especially enjoyed the history
    re the ancient ban on graven images in monotheistic faiths..and how & why that was lifted.

    i am chasing documentation on Cretan (Venetian) portraiture. feel sure that the nobility and ‘feudatories’ must have commissioned the ‘icon’ painters. Do you have any references fro me?
