Casting Call!
ARTES, a fine arts magazine, is approaching its fourth anniversary. A concerted effort by a small group of dedicated professionals has made ARTES a well-respected magazine, read by over 60,000 unique visitors each month, with 170,000 page reads. It has maintained its scholarly, historically-based focus, as wide-ranging topics in art, architecture, photography, theater and design are presented each month. ARTES is a tasteful and thoughtful platform for communicating with a educated, professional readership who, statistics show, collect art, read about art and include museums and galleries on family trips. artes fine arts magazine
This is a target population that every museum, gallery and cultural institution should be reaching out to.
Since articles are voluntarily contributed by a team of more than 70 writers—many of whom are museum and academic staff members—as a means of reaching a large audience with a message and building a personal following for their writing, the feature stories cover many events from every corner of the world.
CALL FOR PAPERS:
So, I want to use this space this month to INVITE MUSEUM DIRECTORS, CURATORS, ART AND ART HISTORY PROFESSORS, ARCHITECTS, CULTURAL HISTORIANS, GALLERY DIRECTORS, THEATER CRITICS AND ACADEMICS STUDYING ARTISTS OF NOTE to submit articles for publication in ARTES. If you are part of a regional association of museums, or part of a gallery network in a larger city, consider designating a good writer to represent the activities within you organization with a regular contribution to ARTES. Feature stories generate thousands of visitors to the magazine and many more visitors to your exhibitions and events.
My one criteria is that the event should be of interest to a broad readership who, even if they can’t come to California, Brussels, Chicago or Delhi to see works on display, will benefit from reading about it, in depth. This means, too, that the work being discussed should rank as part of a world-class collection or gathering of artists, as part of the ARTES global readership initiative.
I will work with your public relations department, principle writer, curatorial staff or gallery manager to best position the editorial content and illustration to present the story beautifully. Web sites can post important material within just a few days of receiving it, but remember to provide adequate lead time for editing and publication planning, especially if an exhibit has a limited run.
It will be my pleasure to work with you if you agree, that international exposure for a museum show, gallery event or high-profile project, is worth its weight in gold, especially when a unique resource like ARTES is so readily available.
Best wishes, and please let me hear from you. I will make every attempt to respond personally and promptly.
Regards,
Richard Friswell, Publisher & Managing Editor
