An insightful look into the mind and what makes us tick. Stephen Bank has a deft hand and quick wit that makes one gasp at the revelations in this story and consider the manifestations of one’s own past on the future.

This story is heartbreaking. It shows the pain of the past on the present and illuminates the workings of a troubled mind. Stephen Bank’s story reminded me of Oliver Sacks storytelling style. Poignant, funny and eye opening.

This is a rare back story of the inner life of a thoughtful psychotherapist who managed to traverse the volcanic empathetic divide presented by his patient and his family. The religious and moral as well as historical challenges presented by this story offers us timely lessons in our human potential for understanding and forgiveness. A precious gift of a story. Thank you!!!

A gift: to be reminded of the power good psychotherapy has to create and protect reflective, healing space. Not to be taken for granted. Thank you, Steve.
